The Science Behind

What is PRF?

PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) is a second-generation platelet concentrate obtained from your own blood through centrifugation. Unlike other concentrates, PRF requires no additives or anticoagulants.

The result is a natural fibrin membrane containing a high concentration of platelets, leukocytes, cytokines, and growth factors—all key elements in healing and regeneration processes.

Trained by Pioneers

At BDS, our dentists have trained directly with Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Ghanaati from the University of Frankfurt. Together with Dr. J. Choukroun from Nice, they developed the most advanced PRF protocol available today.

The Power of Your Blood

Growth Factors

PRF contains a natural concentration of growth factors that work synergistically to promote regeneration.

PDGF
Platelet-Derived

Stimulates cell proliferation and migration of cells to the regeneration site.

TGF-β
Transforming Beta

Promotes extracellular matrix formation and bone cell differentiation.

VEGF
Vascular Endothelial

Promotes angiogenesis, which is the formation of new blood vessels.

IGF
Insulin-like

Contributes to the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts (bone-forming cells).

Simple Process

How is PRF obtained?

Collection

A small blood sample is taken from your arm, just like a routine blood test.

10 ml per tube

Centrifugation

The blood is immediately centrifuged to separate its components by density.

10-12 minutes

Extraction

The PRF clot, rich in platelets and growth factors, is obtained.

Ready to use

Application

Applied as a membrane, clot, or mixed with bone graft depending on the treatment.

Effect 7-10 days
How we use it at BDS

Applications of PRF

Tooth Extractions

We place PRF in the socket after extraction to promote healing and help preserve bone.

Ceramic Implants

We use PRF in implant surgery to promote osseointegration and improve soft tissue healing.

Cavitation Surgery

After cleaning cavitations (FDOJ), we apply PRF to stimulate regeneration of the treated bone.

Sinus Lift

We mix PRF with graft material to improve handling and promote bone regeneration.

Periodontal Regeneration

In periodontal bone defects, PRF can help recover the tooth’s supporting tissue.

Gum Grafts

PRF membranes can be used to protect and accelerate healing in soft tissue surgeries.

Potential Benefits

What can PRF contribute?

May Accelerate Healing

Growth factors can help reduce recovery times after procedures.

100% Biocompatible

Being your own blood, there is no risk of rejection, allergies, or disease transmission.

Promotes Bone Regeneration

Growth factors can stimulate the formation of new bone in the treated area.

More Comfortable Post-op

Some patients report less discomfort and swelling after procedures with PRF.

Antibacterial Properties

Leukocytes present in PRF can help reduce the risk of infections.

Sustained Release

Growth factors are released gradually over 7-10 days, optimizing the process.

We Answer Your Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

No more than a routine blood test. A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm (usually 10-40 ml depending on the treatment) with a fine needle. It is a quick and virtually painless process.

The PRF preparation process takes approximately 15-20 minutes: blood collection, centrifugation, and preparation of the membranes. It is done just before the dental treatment so the PRF is fresh.

No. PRF is 100% autologous, meaning it comes from your own blood. No external additives or anticoagulants are added, so there is no risk of rejection, allergic reactions, or disease transmission.

PRF is a second-generation concentrate that requires no anticoagulants or additives. It forms a solid fibrin matrix that releases growth factors gradually over 7-10 days. PRP is liquid and releases factors more quickly. PRF also contains leukocytes, which provide antibacterial properties.

Most patients can benefit from PRF. However, in people with clotting disorders or certain medical conditions, each case is evaluated individually. Your dentist will assess if it is suitable for you during the consultation.
